Amos Warren Proctor came to Billerica about 1865, to join the manufacturing business established by Jonathan Hill in South Billerica, which continued thereafter as Hill and Proctor. Proctor lived for several years in a house near the machine shop, and then moved to the center about 1880 and lived there until his death in 1916.
