Bowman's Tavern
Circa 1973 by MACRIS
Also Known As Martin Tavern
Address 160 Lexington Rd
MACRIS ID BIL.192
Built 1805
Demolished 1996

The Bowman family had already been in the area when the Middlesex Turnpike was put through in 1805, and they built a tavern at the Lexington Road crossing to take advantage of the new route. It remained in the Bowman family until the 1920s, when it was sold to the Martin family to become the Martin Tavern. In 1979, 99 Restaurants bought the location. In 1996, they demolished the structure, which had been declared substantially changed from the original anyway, and built the present building.
