Charles Talbot (died 1823) was the father of the North Billerica manufacturers Charles P. Talbot and Thomas Talbot. He married Phebe White in Ireland on December 28, 1802, and the couple soon came to America. He lived in New York City and at Cambridge, New York, where he was a woolen manufacturer, and in 1819 he moved to Danby, Vermont, where he died on March 13, 1823. His widow, whom Hazen called "a woman of character and energy," took the family to the woolen mills of Massachusetts and made sure the children went to school. She died in Michigan on February 13, 1841.
Their children were John Walpole (1805), who lived in Centerville, Michigan; Charles Potts (1807); Edward Haskett (1810), who died in 1837; Elizabeth Lucinda (1812), who died in 1843; Joseph White (1814) and Richard Ela (1816), who settled in Georgetown, Texas; Thomas (1818), later Governor of Massachusetts; and Elias William (1820), who died in Texas in 1876. Charles Talbot never lived in Billerica; his sons Charles and Thomas came there in 1839 and founded the mills at North Billerica.
