The Daniel Wilson House stands on the south side of Old Elm Street at the corner of Colson Street in North Billerica. The land was part of the mill farm that Thomas Richardson sold to the Proprietors of the Middlesex Canal in 1794. On October 24, 1831 the Canal Proprietors sold Daniel Wilson, a carpenter known in the village as "Boss" Wilson, about two and three quarter acres "on the southerly side of the road" from Oliver Farmer's to the mills, lots 4 to 12 on Samuel Whiting's 1816 plan of the canal land. In March 1832 he added part of the neighboring Mears homestead at the guardian's sale of the Mears children's shares.
Wilson lived for a time in the east end of the Canal Block and in 1848 built this house on his homestead farm. He died on November 29, 1861. His son-in-law Gardner Parker, the administrator, sold "the homestead farm of the late Daniel Wilson", about twenty-eight acres between the road and the Concord River, at auction in December 1863 to James Faulkner, another son-in-law, who passed it to Parker in April 1864 "subject to ... the dower of Mary Wilson, widow". The 1875 atlas still shows the house as Mrs. D. Wilson's.
Parker sold the ten acres at the river to Charles P. Talbot and Thomas Talbot in 1869, with Mary Wilson releasing her dower, and a half-acre strip beside the house to them in 1876. In July 1882 he conveyed the remaining fourteen acres "with all the buildings thereon, being a part of the Homestead farm of the late Daniel Wilson" to J. M. G. Parker of Lowell, who sold them to the Talbots for $7,000 in August 1883. In 1884 the Talbots' property in the village went to the new corporation, Talbot Mills, and the 1889 map shows the house as Talbot Mills property.
On March 23, 1901 The Talbot Mills sold "a dwelling house and barn connected at the corner of Elm and Colson streets", with 1.28 acres, to Charles H. Kohlrausch Jr., whose family owned the land next to it; the lot was drawn on a plan copied from R. A. Hale's 1881 survey of the Talbot land. His widow Lillian V. Kohlrausch sold the house in 1917 to Neil R. Mahoney, who conveyed it in 1918 to Bridget A. and Annie T. Mahoney. Their 1925 plan by E. W. Cousins divided the corner into five lots, with the house on Lot 1, and in 1947 their heirs sold Lot 1 to Edward J. and Irene Kelley.
In 1953 the house, "now numbered 38 Elm Street", was bought by the North Billerica Baptist Church, which used it as its parish house; the cupola was removed that year. The church sold it in 2021, and it was resold the same year to a private owner.

The Canal Proprietors sell Wilson about two and three quarter acres "on the southerly side of the road" from Oliver Farmer's house to the mills owned by the Canal, bounded by land sold to John Mixer and land of the late Nathan Mears, being lots 4 to 12 on Samuel Whiting's plan of the Canal's mill land of May 27, 1816. This is the land on the south side of Elm Street at the corner of the later Colson Street where Wilson built his house in 1848 (MACRIS cites it as the purchase of the house lot). Gardner Parker, husband of Wilson's daughter Adeline, petitioned December 11, 1861 that Daniel Wilson had died November 29, 1861 intestate, leaving his widow Mary and children Mary J. Wilkins, Adeline M. Parker, Horace N. Wilson, Daniel A. Wilson (at Rattlesnake Bar, California), Israel N. Wilson (a captain then serving in Virginia), Frances A. Faulkner and Charles H. Wilson; he was appointed administrator at Cambridge December 24, 1861. The license of April 7, 1863 led to the sale of Wilson's third of the Mears Tavern stand.

Under a license of the Probate Court at Lowell of April 7, 1863, after three weeks' notice in the Lowell Daily Courier, the administrator sold at public auction on December 7, 1863, to James Faulkner, the highest bidder, for $4,000, all Wilson's right at his death in "a certain piece or parcel of land situate in said Billerica, containing about twenty-eight acres being the homestead farm of the late Daniel Wilson", bounded west by the road from Billerica to North Billerica, north by that road and lands of Easty, I. N. Wilson, Foster, Lane and C. P. Talbot & Co., east by Easty, Foster, Lane and the Concord River, and south by the Concord River and the Common. Faulkner (husband of Wilson's daughter Frances) passed the farm to the administrator Parker (husband of his daughter Adeline) the day after the sale deed was acknowledged. Later Talbot Mills deeds cite it with Book 169 Page 468 as the deeds "from the Talbot heirs" to the new corporation (one recites a deed of Thomas Talbot et als. dated Oct. 15, 1884). The registry shows "Image is Unavailable" for Book 169, so the deed itself was not read; that it covered the land of the future Oval, part of the C. P. Talbot and Company property west of Wilson Street on the 1881 plan, is inferred.
