Address 9 Nashua Rd

Built 1824

This part of West Billerica, along the present-day Nashua Road, was "Spaulding Territory" very early on. The house sits on a parcel own by the Patten family (1710-1760) as woodland and then William Bonner (1760-1783) before it was acquired by Deacon Edward's grandfather, Asa Spaulding.

Deacon Edward Spaulding married his cousin Olive Spaulding in 1824, and had this house built at that time. The Deacon was prominent in the early history of the Baptist Church in Billerica. He was one of a group in West Billerica who attended church in Chelmsford. Prior to the organization of the Baptist Society of Billerica, it was said that meetings were held in his barn. Once the Society was established in Billerica, he was its first deacon.
