Built 1832

Deacon Wright bought the "poorhouse lot" from Josiah B. French in 1839, with buildings. He was an engraver, of Boston at the time of his marriage to Mary Wilson, but came to Billerica soon thereafter. There was an existing building (the poorhouse), but the 1853 map shows two buildings. He presumably built the surviving building prior to that time.

In 1902, there was a partition among his heirs which shows the present building on the plan, but carries the qualification "the building shown on plan has been destroyed by fire." It must have been badly damaged, but the chimney is more appropriate to 1850 than 1900. It's likely his granddaughter, Mabel B. King, must have repaired or rebuilt the house along the original lines.
