The Du Pont Merck Pharmaceutical Company was a partnership of DuPont and Merck formed in 1991, to which DuPont deeded the Treble Cove Road plant on January 1, 1991, with the land valued at $8,929,000. The plant made the heart imaging agent Cardiolite, approved in 1990, and the TechneLite generator. The town's Fire Department held mock disaster drills at "Dupont Merck" in 1997 and 1998. In 1998 DuPont bought out Merck's half and the partnership became DuPont Pharmaceuticals Company, which in October 2001 restricted the campus to industrial use. Bristol-Myers Squibb bought DuPont Pharmaceuticals for $7.8 billion in October 2001, and the partnership was renamed Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharma Company.
