Egmont Avenue is a short street running east from Boston Road to Allendale Avenue in Pinehurst, opposite the end of Sheridan Street, between Chesterfield Avenue and Pinehurst Avenue. It was laid out on the plan "Pinehurst Manor, Billerica, Mass., Owned By Frank W. Coughlin," drawn by H. A. Millhouse, civil engineer, and dated at Boston in September 1910 (Plan Book 27, Plan 95), where "Egmont Ave." leaves the road then marked "To Woburn" with house lots 25 feet wide on either side. The 1925 plan of electric light poles on the unaccepted streets of Pinehurst Manor (Plan Book 47, Plan 64) shows it running only from Boston Road to Allandale Avenue, as it does today.
Egmont is one of the English sounding names the developer gave the streets of Pinehurst Manor, with Beaumont, Cardington, Chesterfield, Dorsett and Montrose; like several of them it is the title of a British peerage, the earldom of Egmont, but no record explains the choice, and the name has no connection with any Billerica family or place.
A water main was laid in Egmont Avenue about 1929. At the annual meeting of March 13, 1954 the town accepted the laying out of Egmont Avenue, "a distance of about 400 feet," as a town way, and voted $525 to improve it. The street was hot topped with bituminous concrete in 1975, if, as seems likely, the "Edgemont Avenue" of that year's list is Egmont, and was resurfaced under the town's pavement program in 2000. It was not on the official town map of 1831 and was not among the roads accepted in 2016.
