The Eleanor Bennett House was likely constructed for Eleanor Richardson Bennett (1794–1891) about 1872 on a parcel of land acquired from Abel Spaulding in 1872. Born in Billerica in 1794, Eleanor was the widow of Joshua Bennett (1793–1865) (Find A Grave 2014). Eleanor leased the dwelling to Timothy Rogers (1835–1906), and the 1875 map identified him as the occupant of the property. Eleanor owned and occupied a large estate located opposite the dwelling on the southwest side of Boston Road, on which the Town Hall currently stands. Timothy worked as a laborer and was presumably employed by Eleanor, who bequeathed the dwelling at 382 Boston Road to him upon her death in 1891. Timothy married Mary E. Rowe in 1863, and the couple eventually had 10 children. Their daughter, Mary A. Rogers married Michael E. Hayes and constructed the neighboring house. Timothy retained ownership of the house until his death in 1906, and his wife and daughters subsequently inherited the property. The house remained in the Rogers family until 1970, when Frances A. Rogers sold the property to the Mother Aloysius Foundation, Inc.
