Endleigh Avenue is the easternmost of the long north and south streets of Pinehurst Manor in Pinehurst, running from Pinedale Avenue north across Pinehurst Avenue toward McHugh Avenue. It was laid out on "Pinehurst Manor, Billerica, Mass., owned by Frank W. Coughlin," drawn by H. A. Millhouse, civil engineer, and dated at Boston in September 1910 (Plan Book 27, Plan 95). On that plan Endleigh Avenue runs beside Montrose Avenue to the north line of the tract, with Clarence Street and Delle Street branching east from it toward Parker land. Millhouse's plan of Park View for Bernard F. McHugh, April 1917 (Plan Book 34, Plan 79), continued it north across McHugh Avenue, and the 1925 plan of electric light poles in Pinehurst Manor (Plan Book 47, Plan 64) shows it with Clarence and Delle Streets.
The name is one of the English sounding names Coughlin's plan gave its streets, with Glenvale, Montrose, Ellingwood and Cardington; no record connects it with a Billerica person or place. The town clerks had trouble with it: the warrants of 1930 to 1933 spell it "Engleigh," the 1969 vote "Endleight," and a 1980 report "Endeleigh."
Pinehurst Avenue was accepted in 1951 as far as "84 feet beyond Endleigh Avenue." An 8-inch water main was laid on Endleigh Avenue from McHugh Avenue to Pinedale Avenue in 1968, and on March 29, 1969 the town voted "to accept Endleight Avenue as a public way approximately 350 feet to the left of McHugh Avenue and 350 feet to the right of McHugh Avenue." At the annual meeting of April 22, 1975 it accepted the laying out of Endleigh Avenue "from Pinehurst Avenue to beyond Delle Street a way 280 feet more or less long and 40 feet wide," although the Street Acceptance Committee had asked that $4,000 be raised for improvements first. Delle Street itself was never built; renamed Pillsbury Road, it was discontinued on May 18, 1995 as "a paper street with no homes," from Endleigh Avenue to its dead end, 222 feet.
Endleigh Avenue was graded in 1980 and 1982 and repaved in the town's pavement management program of 2000. It is not among the roads of the 1831 town map accepted by the town in 2016.
