Fire Engineer

A member of the Board of Engineers of the Billerica Fire Department. Before Billerica had a permanent fire chief, the department was run by a board of (usually three) engineers, appointed each year, who chose one of their number as chief engineer. The board continued as a chief and assistant chief until the early 1930s.
