Long a homesite and residence of the Rev. Nathaniel Whitman during his pastorate (1814-1835) in Billerica. This, in 1845 when Ann Parker divided her "Whiteman lot" (on either side of the present Page's Court), she was dividing land adjacent to the former pastor's.

The first Baptist Society bought one lot of Ann's in 1844 and moved their building onto it from two miles away. George Bacon bought the other front lot to the south, adding it to the larger tract which he had bought in 1836. The present house sits astride the boundary and was presumably built soon after 1845. The recessed doorway is very characteristic of the period 1845-1850 and of the work of Edward Mansfield.

It is doubtful that George Bacon occupied the house himself. He sold in 1849 to George H. Whitman, who retired from a successful law practice in Boston. It is said he came to Billerica because of his friendship with Dr. Zadock Howe. After his death, his only child and daughter remained through her lifetime.

For several years thereafter, the home of Harry Smith, an artist some of whose etchings still grace Billerica homes. More recently, it was the rectory of St. Theresa's parish.
