George Lemieux

George Lemieux was the band director at Billerica Memorial High School for about four decades, from the early 1970s until he retired in 2013. He appears on the music faculty in the Warrior yearbook of 1974, and in the yearbooks of the following years as "Mr. G. Lemieux, Music." Under him the marching band travelled and competed: in 1980 it was invited to parade at Disney World, where it scored 85 in competition, and on its return the Board of Selectmen presented the band a declaration at town meeting. Thanking the parents and the School Department, Mr. Lemieux said the students "bring pride and honor back to us every time." Seniors of the late 1970s and 1980s remembered trips to Toronto and Florida, jazz ensemble, and a win at Wildwood, New Jersey, with the band. The School Committee listed him among the retirements of 2012-2013.
