Hannah Patten Chandler House
One of two adjacent houses built between 1853 and 1875 on land formerly owned by Foster (who lived next door to the south), representing northward "in-fill" of the central village area.
On the 1875 and 1889 maps, it's listed as "Mrs. H.P. Chandler". Hannah Patten Chandler was the daughter of Theophilus Manning and Hannah Patten, born in 1808. In 1827, she married John Chandler Jr. They had no children, and John died in 1836 at just 33 years old. After that, Hannah lived with her father, stepmother and unmarried sister until at least 1870. By 1880, she was living alone in this house, and she died here in 1889.
The Sandberg family bought the house in the early 1900s and for many years made potato chips in the barn. The business continued at 271 Boston Rd and the Sandbergs occupied the home as a residence only.
