The deed of sale in 1844 to the house next door refers to this as "land belonging to Lucy or Harvey Snow", and the 1853 Walling Map shows it as "H. Snow". Architecturally, this style of cottage in Billerica dates to the 1840s. Lucy and Harvey Snow were two of four children born to Josiah Snow and Azubah Hill, all baptized in 1811. Azubah was an aunt of Jonathan Hill, who started the shops further north on Concord Road. Josiah may have abandoned his family and moved on to Grafton, VT. The Snow children possibly held title to the land as heirs of their Hill grandfather. By the 1875 map, it was rented by James Leslie (1832-1878), an Irish immigrant farmer.
