Highview Street runs north and northeast through the Pinedale section of Pinehurst, near the Burlington line, parallel to and east of Bedford and Crystal Streets, to the far end of Pinedale Avenue. For more than half a century it was called High Street. It was laid out on the plan "Pinedale Park, Billerica, Mass., 1908," drawn by J. S. Crossman, civil engineer, of Boston and recorded on May 24, 1909 (Plan Book 26, Plan 22), where "High" Street forms the eastern edge of the development along the Shedd land. The Pinedale Park Addition of April 1911, by C. A. Thayer, engineer (Plan Book 29, Plan 3), carried "High Street" south from Arch Street to Oak Street near Boston Road. The 1919 directory lists "HIGH (Pinedale) from Oak n Burlington line easterly to byd Arch," distinguishing it from High Street in North Billerica.

The name was one of the developer's plain names for the park, like Pine, Maple, Birch, Crown and Crystal, and no record connects it with any person. The town still called it High Street in 1957, when water pipe was bought for "High, Arch, Crystal and Bedford Streets (Pinehurst)." By 1969 the town reports were calling it Highview Street, a change that removed the confusion with the much older High Street in North Billerica. No vote or order making the change has been found, and the exact year is not known.

Highview Street was graded and graveled in 1969 and 1978 and hot topped with bituminous concrete in 1975. At the annual town meeting of 1971, under Article 90, the town accepted it as a public way "in accordance with the layout by the Board of Selectmen," together with Arch, Crystal and Bedford Streets. It was not among the roads of the 1831 town map accepted in 2016.
