In 1872, Isaac Stackpole acquired this land in a couple purchases. He built a house and outbuildings. In 1910, James P. Robinson bought the property and abandoned Stackpole's house in favor of building his own.
By 1920 the Robinson Estate had passed to James's heirs. It passed through several owners until being acquired in 1946 by Bertha Simmons. She and her sister, Mildred Harrison, founded the Simmons Nursing Home, which continued in operation for nearly 50 years. Today, it's a sober living facility.
