In 1815, the Middlesex Canal Proprietors divided their land into small lots along Elm St. John Mixer erected a house, which burned down in 1826 and was immediately rebuilt. John Baldwin, Zadock Howe, Daniel Wilson, and Joel Dix Jr. all had financial interests in the house, and it was eventually sold to C.P. Talbot and Co. in 1852 for worker housing. In 1978, the house was destroyed by vandalism and fire. A parking lot is currently at the site.
