John Shed House
This house occupies the house lot of Simon Bird, whose widow married Henry Jefts in 1666. Henry Jefts' will in 1692, leaves to his eldest son, John "that place where he now dwelleth" confirming there was a house here at this time. In 1727, the house transferred from Nathaniel Rogers to John Shed with buildings. Extensive remodelling was done around 1790 likely by John's grandson, Zaccheus Shed to remove the central chimney and replacement by two, and the roof was altered. As recently as 1949, the fine panelling in the front rooms still survived from the First Period.
