Joseph Feree Talbot House
Joseph Feree Talbot was a nephew of Charles P. and Thomas Talbot. He was born in 1867 in Georgetown, Texas, and moved to Billerica with his brother to try their hands at the mill. His brother soon died, but Joseph found his place here. He married Martha Bartlett of Lowell in 1890, and this house was built for them in 1893, according to the 1922 inventory of Talbot houses. Joseph's rose garden was famous in town.
After Joseph's death in 1933, his widow moved back to Lowell and Samuel McQuaid moved here from his residence on Colson St. He maintained and improved the rose garden.
