William Symmes built his new house in 1909. He and his wife Lucy and their small daughter lived there until his death in 1919. Symmes had run Richardson's water-powered mill until 1909 and the new motor-driven mill until 1919.
This house has been sold many times and has often been the home of large families.
George Moore, the station agent, lived in the New Symmes House from 1924 to 1929.
