Patten Homestead
One of, if not the oldest house still standing in Billerica. The Pattens were one of the first families in Billerica, with William being one of the original signers of the Cambridge agreement. However, he never lived here. His son, Thomas lived in a house lot in Billerica Center, which was a garrison house in 1675. By 1680, the Pattens had developed their mill site in East Billerica, but it's likely that Thomas stayed in the Center. The likely "original owner" of the house was Thomas's son Nathaniel (b. 1668 m. 1695), with the house being built some time between 1690 and 1700. The house remained in the family for generations over 200 years.
