Pondale Acres is a small neighborhood on the north side of Pond Street, off Fountain Avenue and Eastview Avenue. In April 1936 John Thomas Brown, civil engineer, of Twombly Avenue, North Billerica, surveyed "Pondale Acres, Billerica, Mass., owned by Lucy B. Collier," recorded on April 12, 1939 (Plan Book 62, Plan 7). It laid out fifteen house lots of about 13,000 to 21,000 square feet between Fountain Avenue and Eastview Avenue, which ran north from Pond Street, with Gatecliff Street crossing between them; land of Collier lay to the north.
The streets were built only decades later and carried well beyond the fifteen lots of the plan: Eastview Avenue about 1973, Fountain Street, the plan's Fountain Avenue, about 1974, and Gatecliff Street in 1993.
