Roger Toothaker House
Address Rogers St
Built 1662
Demolished 1806
Other Lot Structures William Rogers House (Built 1807)

Legend says this is the location of Roger Toothaker's house, the first house in this part of town. He married Mary Allen, sister of Martha (Allen) Carrier and is remembered for his enthusiastic testimony at his sister-in-law's witchcraft trial in Salem. During his absence, the selectmen had to support the family which he abandoned in order to do his duty as he saw it. It is not clear that he ever returned to Billerica. His long-suffering wife was killed and his youngest daughter taken into captivity in the Indian Massacre of 1695. It's possible that part of this house was included in the later house built on this site.
