Orra Fletcher was a Civil War veteran from Westford who bought the acreage from Albert E. Stearns in two transactions in 1901 and 1902. Orra had the house built here, likely either by David Fitch or Gerrit Bennink, and sold it to his widowed daughter, Sarah Lilla Fletcher Murphy in 1903. She lived in the house for the next 25 years.
