Scroxton Drive
Scroxton Drive is a short residential street off Allen Road, near Devonshire Drive and Arcadia Road, in the eastern part of town.
It is a modern subdivision street. No road on its line appears on the 1831 town map or the maps of the nineteenth century, and the first record of the name found is an address on it in the Billerica Memorial High School yearbook of 1992. The name is that of a Billerica family who lived in town in the 1960s and 1970s and appear in the high school yearbooks of 1960, 1971 and 1972; the street was presumably named for them as owners of the land, though no plan or vote naming it has been found.
The town accepted it as a public way at the annual town meeting session of May 25, 2006, under Article 36, "in accordance with the layouts adopted by the Board of Selectmen and on file with the Town Clerk," with gifts of easements for drainage; the Finance Committee and the Street Acceptance Committee recommended it. It was not among the roads of the 1831 map accepted by town meeting in 2016.
