Hawks Ridge Road Simonds Farm Road |
Simonds Farm is a neighborhood of the late 1980s and 1990s in North Billerica on Simonds Farm Road and Hawks Ridge Road, running north from Nashua Road beside the land of the New England Nuclear Corporation. It takes its name from the Simonds farm, whose house and barn still stood beside Nashua Road when the land was surveyed; the record owner was J. Raymond Brown. Howe Surveying Associates, Inc. of Chelmsford drew the "Simond's Farm" Definitive Subdivision Plan of Land for H. J. Allan Co., Inc. of 572 Boston Road on November 17, 1986. It was approved by the planning board and recorded on April 14, 1987 in five sheets (Plan Book 159, Plan 33), with Simonds Farm Road running north from Nashua Road. H. J. Allan built the first houses from 1991. After Allan's mortgage was foreclosed in 1994, the lender, SKW Real Estate Limited Partnership of Alexandria, Virginia, took lots 1, 5, 10 to 26 and 31 to 41 and had Howe Surveying redraw them; the new Definitive Subdivision Plan, "Simonds Farm," revised April 2, 1996 and recorded on September 27, 1996 in sixteen sheets (Plan Book 192, Plan 56), laid out Hawks Ridge Road, with lots numbered up to 70. Its houses were built from 1999 to 2001.
