Suburban Land Company Subdivision is a neighborhood of small house lots between Boston Road and the Concord River north of Billerica Centre. In 1917 the Suburban Land Company, Inc., a Boston house-lot developer that had bought the Noyes farm at Nuttings Lake in 1914, acquired the registered riverside tract and had it laid out by Clarence E. Carter, civil engineer, on his "Subdivision of land shown on plan filed with Cert. of Title No. 185 ... Land in Billerica," dated September 1917, filed in the Land Registration Office on September 20, 1923 and registered on October 10, 1923 as Land Court Plan 3024-G. It cut the land into lots 25 feet wide, most of them 100 feet deep, on Pershing Street, Hadley Street, Center Street, Phiney Street, Lombard Street and Riverview Street, now Stoney Drive. The lots sold slowly; the oldest houses date from about 1930. The town accepted Pershing, Lombard and Riverview Streets in 1978 and discontinued Center Street between Pershing and Phiney Streets in 1985.
