Built 1880

One of three units built between 1875 and 1887, attributed to Mrs. J. Jones in 1889.

Mrs. Jones was born Judith Stearns, daughter of Nathaniel Stearns, administrator of the Mears estate next door and proprietor of a sawmill on the east bank. She married, as his second wife, Anthony Jones - presumably the Jones of "Jones and Foster" who had acquired the land on which the Mears Tavern and these three units stand. In 1875, Jones and Foster had a store at the corner of Elm and Wilson streets.
