Dr. William Bowers, son of Capt. William Bowers, born April 20, 1744. He graduated from Harvard College in 1769 and practised medicine long and successfully in his native town (Hazen); Farmer (1816) calls him a practitioner of medicine in his native town. He lived on the south corner of West Street and bought pew 6 at the sale of pews. He married Priscilla Goodrich and died November 17, 1800. His daughters Mary and Fanny left about $11,000 to the town for the benefit of its worthy poor.
