Hillcrest is a small neighborhood in North Billerica on the west side of High Street, between High Street and Billerica Avenue. In August 1911 James A. Bancroft surveyed "Hillcrest," the "Estate of Geo. H. Hill Esq., North Billerica Mass.," with the Pelkey Wallace Company of 101 Tremont Street, Boston, as selling agents; the plan was recorded on November 9, 1911 (Plan Book 29, Plan 58). It offered "only elevated lots between Boston and Maine car shops (to employ about 3000 men) and Center of the Town," with town water and electric lights on High Street. Five streets ran west from High Street to the line of the estate of the late Governor Thomas Talbot: Marian, Wallace, Corthell, Mellen and Bartlett Roads, with lots of about 5,000 square feet and a "One Acre Farm" with a house and barn at the corner of Wallace Road and High Street.
Hill then bought part of the Talbot estate behind the first plan. The "Hillcrest (Talbot Addition)" plan was recorded on March 21, 1913 (Plan Book 30, Plan 57), and a revised plan of Hillcrest by Clarence E. Carter of Reading, recorded on May 14, 1914 (Plan Book 31, Plan 61), carried the streets west across Hillcrest Avenue and Tuttle Avenue to Talbot Boulevard and Billerica Avenue and added a Bartlett Terrace.
The town accepted the first 300 feet of Mellen Road in 1938, and by 1957 the name was spelled Mellon. In the selectmen's program of 1988 to 1991 against duplicate street names the west end of Bartlett Road became Bart Road by 1989 and the east end became McKenna Drive soon after; the McKenna Woods condominium at the end of McKenna Drive was permitted in 2004 and its master deed recorded in 2007. Today's streets are Marion Road, Wallace Road, Corthell Road, Mellon Road, McKenna Drive and Bart Road.
