Lloyd's Store (1915 - 1952)
Inferrera's Market (1952 - 1972)

This building at the corner of Boston Road and Dale Street in Pinehurst, opposite Riverbank Terrace, was the store and trolley waiting room of Harnden's Corner. It stands on lots 1071 to 1074 of Pinedale Park, a house-lot development laid out in 1908 by Aaron Adelman of Boston (Plan Book 26, Plan 22), on which Boston Road was the "Main Street". Adelman sold the four lots with six others to Fannie P. Youngman of Boston in 1909, and on April 3, 1913 she and her husband sold them, still without buildings, to Matilda Jane Lloyd, wife of Archibald Vincent Lloyd of Medford, taking back a $350 mortgage.

The Lloyds built the store within the next few years. A real-photo postcard titled "Boston Rd. at Harnden's Corner, Pinedale" shows it about 1915: a low store with a stucco or block side wall, a sign reading "Harnden's Corner / Groceries / Waiting Room / Moxie", a gasoline pump at the curb and a car drawn up beside it, with the tracks of the street railway from Burlington running along the other side of the road. Passengers on the electric cars waited inside. The 1925 directory lists Archie V. Lloyd on Boston Road "opp River rd", and the 1932 directory lists Lloyd's Store on Boston Road.

Matilda Jane Lloyd, by then of Billerica, deeded the lots "with the buildings thereon" to Archibald George Lloyd in June 1950. His surveyor, E. P. Simpson, drew the corner that August as "Boston Road at Harnden's Corner", with a "Store and Dwelling" of about 30 by 42 feet set back on the lot (Plan Book 82, Plan 61A). In September 1952 Lloyd sold the store lot and lot 1071 to Joseph and Mary L. Inferrera of Watertown, who ran it as Inferrera's Market, a grocery "open all day Sundays". They sold the property in 1972 to a realty trust; it passed to another trust in 1980 and to private owners in 1984, and later housed a veterinary clinic. The town approved its renovation for residential and commercial use in 2019, and the assessor now records it as a two-family building.
