Castlewood East

Castlewood East is a neighborhood in East Billerica between Baldwin Road, the Shawsheen River and the Tewksbury line, laid out by Roberts Homes, Inc. The "Castlewood East" subdivision plan, dated May 7, 1962 and drawn by Joseph W. Moore, Inc., registered land surveyor, of Bedford, was approved by the Planning Board on May 17, 1962 and recorded in seven sheets on May 31, 1962 (Plan Book 96, Plan 120). It laid out more than two hundred lots of about 30,000 square feet on Biscayne Drive, Montclair Circle, Kimbrough Road, Westminster Road, Montbatten Road, Sheffield Drive, Kensington Drive, Charlesgate Road, Radcliffe Road, Chatham Road, Castlewood Drive, Buckingham Drive, University Lane and Churchill Street, now Churchill Drive. The 250-foot New England Power Company easement crosses the tract, and a 7.8-acre lot along the Shawsheen River, Lot "Y," was to be deeded to the town.

A second Castlewood East plan, dated December 26, 1963 by Joseph W. Moore, Inc. (Plan Book 101, Plan 97), added Diane Lane, now Robin Hood Lane. Most of the houses were built in the early 1960s.
