John Baldwin (1731 to 1800) was born in Billerica on November 1, 1731, the son of John Baldwin and Sarah Hill, and the only son of their eight children to survive infancy. On February 21, 1758, at Chelmsford, he married Elizabeth Parkhurst of that town; Hazen gives the date as February 3. The town records list their children as born to "John Jr. and Elisabeth."
Their children were John (1759); Timothy (1762), who married and settled in Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, and whose son Joel Baldwin moved back to Billerica in 1825 and farmed west of the Shawshin River; Betty (1763), who married Asa Marshall in 1786; Joel (1766), who did not marry; Asa (1770), who married Ruth Kidder in 1795; and Sarah (1776).
John Baldwin died on December 5, 1800, aged 69, and Elizabeth on September 25, 1803, aged 72. Both are recorded from gravestones in the Old South Cemetery.
