The precise location of the John Rogers Homestead has been lost to history, but Rogers's well was still visible nearby at least through the 1880s. In 1695, the homestead was destroyed in the Indian Massacre of 1695. Most of the family was killed, but a few of the children survived and escaped. A historical marker was placed on the side of the road in 1930.
