Loring G. Bryant House
The Loring G. Bryant House stands on the south side of River Street in Billerica Center, on the old road to the Middle Bridge. On Feb. 19, 1876, Dudley Foster sold to Mary F. Bryant, wife of Loring G. Bryant, "to her sole and separate use", for $500, "a certain tract of land ... containing one acre" on "the south side of the road leading to the middle bridge", about eight rods on the road and twenty rods deep, between land of one Osborn and land of Gardner Parker. The deed names no buildings, so the house, a side-hall house in the Greek Revival manner with a small attached barn, was built after that date; the Billerica Historical Commission dated it between the maps of 1875 and 1889, and the 1889 map shows it as the home of Loring G. Bryant's widow.
Mary F. Bryant, by then a widow, sold the place "with the buildings thereon" in July 1901 to Aphia C. Hill, wife of Charles H. Hill, and took back a $2,000 mortgage. In 1904 the Hills conveyed it to Margaret E. Hill, who owned it for more than thirty years. She sold it in August 1936 to Edna T. Derochers of Boston, who resold it in January 1937 to Beatrice L. Dole of Billerica. She kept the house until 1994, when it passed to private owners.
