The McElligott Subdivision is a small group of streets in North Billerica in the angle of High Street and Pollard Street. Edward D. Chapman, civil engineer and surveyor, of Marblehead drew the "Plan of Land owned by Michael H. McElligott, et al. on High and Pollard Streets, North Billerica, Mass." in May 1913, and it was recorded in September 1913 (Plan Book 31, Plan 4). It divided the corner into 26 house lots of about 4,800 to 6,500 square feet on two parallel forty-foot streets running in from High Street, Fairview Street and Prospect Street, joined by a short cross street, Highland Avenue. Michael H. McElligott was one of the North Billerica carpenters M. H. and T. F. McElligott. In 1915 Lawrence A. Adlington, who owned the land beyond, had Smith and Brooks of Lowell plan his own lots, carrying both streets on to a new cross street with eleven lots along its far side (Plan Book 33, Plan 10); that street took his first name. Fairview Street was accepted in 1928 and Lawrence Street in 1980. Building was slow: the assessors date the oldest houses on Longford Lane to about 1953. In the renamings of 1988 to 1991 Fairview Street became Fayerweather Street and the Highland Avenue names gave way to Mclean Road and Longford Lane; the streets also include Lawrence Street.
