The Pollard School was dedicated on March 9, 1892, and designed to replace the old Center District school. Initially, it housed Primary, Intermediate, and Grammar classrooms. By the mid-1910s, most of the remaining district schools had closed, in favor of conveying the students to the Pollard and Talbot, where they could get a more standardized education. The school closed at the completion of the 1977-1978 school year, and was demolished in late 1981. In 1989, the Kids Konnection Playground was built in the rear schoolyard, and in 1999, the Korean War Veterans Memorial was placed along Andover Road.
