Natt H. Hutchins was a bookkeeper and later a foreman at the Talbot Mills in North Billerica who served the town as an auditor, public weigher, registrar of voters and surveyor of wood and lumber before leaving in 1913 to become master mechanic of a factory in Providence, Rhode Island.
His marriage to Elizabeth H. Batchelder of North Reading, on October 11, was among the marriages recorded in Billerica in 1898. The 1901 directory lists him as a bookkeeper at the Talbot mills, living on Treble Cove Road near Sprague, and the 1912 directory as a foreman there. He was often sworn in as a teller at town meetings. He once ran for collector of taxes against Albert H. Jones, polling 86 votes to 342, and once for the School Committee, losing to Joseph P. Meaney by 277 votes to 239. He was a Town Auditor from 1903 to 1909, signing the auditors' reports with George P. Greenwood and Arthur S. Cook, a Public Weigher from 1906, a Surveyor of Wood and Lumber from 1910, and a member of the Board of Registrars from 1912.
In 1912 he was superintendent of the Sunday school of the First Parish (Unitarian), president of the Bennett Public Library Association, and a member of the ways and means committee of the Billerica Improvement Association. In its issue of May 1913 the magazine Billerica reported that he had accepted a position as master mechanic in a factory in Providence: "The esteem in which he was held by his fellow workers was shown when he was presented a beautiful chain by the employees of the repair department, and a handsome Masonic charm by the overseers of the mill." The 1916 directory records that he had moved to Providence.
