The second house on the Nathaniel Cheever place, which the 1856 map labels with Cheever's name (the wiki's "Cheevers" is a misspelling). The deeds describe the place only as land "with the buildings thereon" and never count the houses, so this house is not dated by the record. The place was the Samuel Bowers homestead from 1788 or earlier. Cheever, a blacksmith, bought it from Dr. Abraham R. Thompson in 1830 and sold it to Jacob P. Brown in 1857. From 1864 it was "the Cheever Place" of the Fuller family. Clarence A. Backer bought it in 1917, and it was part of Musgrave's Tower Farm from 1939 to 1970. The Farmers sold the land for the mall in 1974.
