The Old Parker School was the elementary school of Billerica Centre from 1953 to 2012: a brick building with 21 classrooms, a cafeteria and an auditorium, on the south side of River Street between Parker Street and Page Court. It was replaced by the new Parker School, built beside it on the same lot, and was demolished after the new building opened in September 2012.

The land was part of the farm on the south side of the road to the Middle Bridge (now River Street) that began as James Kidder's house lot in the 1650s. The Kidders held it until 1791, when the heirs of Capt. Solomon Kidder sold the 54-acre farm "about eighty rods west of the meeting house" to Stephen Parker. After his death in 1830 the homestead was divided among his widow and six children, and his son Gardner Parker bought most of his brothers' and sisters' shares between 1831 and 1848 and held the whole homestead by 1864. In 1884 Gardner's widow Adeline M. Parker deeded the 70-acre homestead farm to their son J. Nelson Parker. After J. Nelson Parker and his widow Charlotte died, their children had the farm surveyed by E. P. Simpson in July 1939 in four parcels. "Parcel A", "about 19 1/2 acres" bounded by River Street, Parker Street and a stone wall on the south, is the school land; the Parker house and its lot to the east (the John Nelson - Stephen Parker House) were surveyed separately.

George N. Parker deeded his half of the farm to his sister Frances P. Farquhar in August 1939, and in September 1941 she sold all four parcels to James Everett and Phyllis Caroline Farmer, who gave her a $7,000 mortgage. The Farmers sold in 1942 to Donald L. and Pauline A. Jacobs, who sold in 1943 to Raymond J. and Doris Blondin of Watertown, and in April 1944 the Blondins conveyed the land to Luther W. and Cornelia Jacobs of Richford, Vermont. Luther W. Jacobs began to sell it as house lots: in April 1946 J. C. and W. T. Monahan laid out twelve lots along River Street, and in November 1947 John Thomas Brown laid out Page Court across the south end with nineteen lots. A 75-foot lot on Parker Street went to Frank F. and Rilla R. Frost in 1946 and Lot 19 on Page Court to Hubert D. and Alice M. Sewell in 1949. In February 1951 Luther and Cornelia Jacobs deeded what remained of the parcel to Donald L. Jacobs.

By the late 1940s the town's schools were badly crowded, and the school superintendent's 1949 long-range plan called for a new 14-room elementary school in the Centre to replace substandard rooms at the Pollard School and the wooden buildings at Pinehurst. A special town meeting on January 8, 1951 appointed a committee to bring in plans and a site; at the annual meeting that year the committee recommended a 21-room school. On November 24, 1951 a special town meeting chose the site, "land off Page's Court, Parker Street and River Street", lots "A, B, C, 6, 18, 19, 'Frost Lot' and 'Orchard Lot'" on a September 1951 plan by James B. Monahan, and voted $13,200 to buy it or take it by eminent domain, 121 to 12. The town bought Lot 19 and the Frost lot from their owners and Lots A, C, 6 and 18 (about 7.4 acres, with the River Street entrance) from the Jacobs family in March 1952, and the 1.6-acre Orchard Lot, the old Parker orchard behind the Parker house, from its owners in June 1952. The deed from the Jacobs family reserved for the town the right to drain the school grounds by a pipe under Parker Street into the brook on the land to the west.

The annual town meeting of March 8, 1952 voted $855,000, unanimously, to build and equip the Billerica Center Elementary School, borrowing $800,000 of it, much of it under the 1948 state school building assistance law, and made the 1951 committee the school building committee with power to sign the contracts. A storm drain was laid across Parker Street the same year. The school opened for classes on September 21, 1953 as the Parker School, for grades one to five, with 21 classrooms, "a large and modern school cafeteria, and an excellent auditorium with a seating capacity of 550", and 741 pupils; Mary E. Gill was its first principal. Its opening let the town close the three-room Old Howe School and relieve the crowded classes at the Ditson School. The town reports do not say why the school was given the name; it stands on the former Parker farm beside Parker Street.

The Parker School was the polling place for the town election and for Precinct One from 1954 until 2012, and town meeting warrants were posted there. Enrollment was still about 750 in 1966. By the 2000s the building needed new boilers, ventilation and other repairs, and in 2008 the annual town meeting voted $400,000 for a feasibility study, with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, of renovating or replacing it. The building committee chose to build a new school beside the old one, which was used until the new building opened in September 2012 and was then taken down; the 2011 report planned the demolition for the summer of 2012, with the new playground, fields and parking laid out on its site afterward.
