John Chandler
Rev. John Chandler, third pastor of Billerica. Born in Andover December 14, 1723, youngest of twelve children of Thomas Chandler; graduated Harvard College 1743 and taught the Billerica school in 1746. Chosen by the church and town in 1747 as colleague of Rev. Samuel Ruggles and ordained October 21, 1747. After complaints about his drinking, following the death of his first wife in 1757, a council advised his resignation, which was accepted June 5, 1760. He died in Billerica November 10, 1762.

For 800 pounds old tenor, one acre bounded easterly on the country road, southerly on Nathaniel Davidson and northerly on land of Jacob Danforth. Chandler was ordained the third minister in Oct. 1747. The large price for one acre suggests a house. Whether this is the same lot as the 1785 deed is probable but not proven: the neighbors had changed by then. Billerica town book 5, page 107.
